Vice President celebrates progress of Operation Warp Speed.
A major breakthrough in the search for a COVID-19 vaccine was announced on Monday. The drug company Pfizer Inc. stated that it had experienced above average results with their clinical trials. The company developed a vaccine that was 90% effective in curing people of the coronavirus.
Vice President Pence celebrated the scientific advancement via Twitter, stating, “HUGE NEWS: Thanks to the public-private partnership forged by President Trump, Pfizer announced its Coronavirus Vaccine trial is EFFECTIVE, preventing infection in 90% of its volunteers.”
Though a Pfizer representative responded clarifying that they received no federal funds from Operation Warp Speed, their participation in the fast-track designation by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the arrangement for the U.S. government to purchase a hundred million doses of the safe and effective vaccine is included under the Warp Speed project.
